December 2012

The last week has brought such sad news with the public shootings at the mall and then the school back east. My thoughts are with the families and friends missing loved ones. We try to stay busy with projects, the weather isn't such that we can be outside much. We have been working on my bike. We installed the trailer hitch, and Jay did the wiring for the trailer lights. He is such a sweetheart. Not sure how he puts up with me. My driving lights come tomorrow, and we will get them on soon. The more lights easier for me to see, and for others to see me.
We attended the GWRRA Chapter I Christmas party on Dec 8th, great food, lots of laughter and fun. We continue to lose weight, slowly but it does happen. Until next time, be safe.

Thanksgiving 2012

Thanksgiving week here was very quiet. No turkey or the usual "stuff". Since finding out we both have diabetes and very high A1Cs, we go for the light side of food. BBq steak, smashed sweet potatoes with pecans, green salad, and cherry almond pie. It was very good, but as Jay would say "there wasn't enough". we have been busy working on the latest bike. Heated hand grips were not working, and one of the reasons for getting the bike was for that comfort. we ended up taking the top part of the bike apart, to only find that everything seemed to be ok, after we put the bike back together they worked great...is a mystery, maybe the motorcycle gremlins were playing with something. Next step was to get new tires on the bike, we decided to do as much as we could ourselves. we were able to get the wheels off, take them to a motorcycle shop and have the new tires mounted, we are using something called "dynabeads" for balancing the tires. will let you know more about that later. Many projects going on, remodeling the lower floor, can't wait to be able to sit down there in front of the wood stove. we are continuing to attempt to get some exercise every day. when raining I walk some in our area. He gets on his bicycle and rides. I have lost 20 lbs in 2 months, and he has lost 15 lbs in about the same time period. So looking forward to spring and warmer weather. I will try and get other pics of the bike and get them posted soon.... until next time....

Months since my last blog...

so much has happened since my last blog. I did have a job and now I don't, not looking for one either. Jay is not working at this time. We are both doing well. Trying to get more exercise, riding bicycles, and alittle walking at times. Both are diabetics so watching more about nutrition. My mother passed away about 11 months ago, and Jays brother passed away within a week. December 2011 was not a good month for us. Life goes on. I enjoy my time at home with Jay. My thought is every night is Friday night and everyday is Saturday.lots of projects in the works with the house, and my newest bike.
We are planning a few trips (long distance) and I have been wanting something with more comfort, this was my choice. Life is good, Jay is wonderful..such a tease.

June 6, 2011

Well another week. The tomatoes are all planted in their upside down containers (thanks Woot). Will have to wait and see how this works. Jay set up the rail for them to hang on, and I think he did a great job.
This last week we took on something new to me, and we built birds. Jay cut them out of wood that we had around the house.I helped with the sanding and painting, They turned out kinda cute. We put them out in the yard.
In the front yard we found a rock, well not sure of the weight, put we picked it up put it in the van and brought it home...it took both of us, and we placed it out front under one of the trees...then I planted some strawberries under the tree, with lavender. It really improved the looks.
We also put in 2 blueberry bushs, next year we should have a few berries. I am looking to put in a Italian plum tree and 2 black currants this next week. With
not working I have the time and enjoy doing this type of thing.
Today we went for a short motorcycle ride to Oregon City, I had won a gift certificate to a place called "Lil Cooperstown" at one of the events put on by GWRRA Chapter I Goldwing organization. We decided to use it today and try out a new place to eat. We were not disappointed. Fair prices, Great service, and good food.

Life continues even for the unemployed.

I have been very busy with resumes, and yard work.I did have to take a class at work source Oregon on afternoon. Was not my best day. I had wanted to ride the bike, started out slipped in the mud, and down I went. I was not able to pick the bike up at that time by myself. So I went to the class by car. When I returned home the bike was still on its side. I watched several utube videos, went out and picked it up by myself.
Today we planned our garden, since I am home I have time to take care of it. Tomatoes were the issue, so we purchased something called topsy turvy?? this could be interesting.

The other issue we are handling at this time, is the neighbors dog! It chases us up the road when we drive by. There really is no way around this dog, chases us right into our yard. I know this is not fun. We have been handling this since riding bikes (over five years). The owner doesn't care.(the dog also sneaks up behind me when I am working in the yard) Animal control can only send him warnings....so what are we to do.

I think I might have an interview next week, wish me luck...until next time, be safe.

It has been awhile since last post...

I started working in November 2010. The hours were long and being very busy, I failed to do any blogging. shame on me. I am back, with more time (I lost my job) so back to blogging. Christmas came and went with no problems. February, I heard my mom is not feeling well, and is now on oxygen all the time. She really doesn't care to see me, so I hear about her from my sister (Barbara). My mom can not stay alone anymore, so she is with Barbara and her husband Jim full time. With the 3 of them traveling from Portland to Medford as Barbs job takes them. I do miss her, and with mothers day this coming weekend, it does make it hard.
The job was so so, I like some of the people and will miss them. The company was not the greatest, no benefits. So I start looking all over again. wish me luck, and I will be back with updates soon.

Oct 10, 2010

Another week, and I am still unemployed....Had a interview (2 interviews same company) last week, did not get the job, but was recommended to another company...Will see where that goes.

Have been busy with cleaning up from our little trip...cleaning my bike, I forgot to mention in the last post that my frogg toggs melted on my pipes..so much fun to clean off. Ordered parts for repairs, they should be here sometime this coming week. It won't take me long to install once they are here.

Had a birthday last week....Roses and ballon, with lunch out from my sweetie...he is just wonderful.....yes another year older...Sometimes I really feel it...

There were other pics taken at the wedding, but Jason had been put in charge of pictures...his idea of pics, and mine...are much different..so about 1/3 of the pics were trash....THANK YOU JASON!!!! It was an important day for me....but apparently...he had different feelings....

On a more positive note....I was asked to volunteer for GWRRA as historian for the next 2 years...could be fun...and I have time...the position as editor is also open...have been thinking about it....This last GWRRA meeting was the best we have been to....laughing...jokes...fun...positive changes are coming....new chapter directors...new blood into the group....nice....

ok...so let us hope I get this next job....
